Greetings all, would anyone have details of the transformer for a Carver M400. Numbers on the transformer are 2157, PK51013, 98643. It has a sticker on it that says 240V. I am looking for the secondary voltage/ currents. Secondaries seem to be 7 wires. While I can hook it up and get voltages, I need to know the current.
Thanks if you can help.

If memory serves from reading here, it's not a transformer, it's a mag coil. The man you want to speak to is Anatech, as he knows Carver units extremely well.
Thanks, I have 2 blown Carver M400 I got cheap on Ebay. I like the metal work, always have. I will make up up as a stereo chip amp and the other a class d. Hate to throw out the trafos if they can be used elseware.
Thanks for the tip, much appreciated.

Anatech will probably scream at you scrapping the Carvers 😉
This will be why the amps have been sold cheap. Carvers are not regular amps and these amps in particular have a very unusual power supply. Sadly the coils are not suitable as standard transformers, they will saturate and cause a short.
Anatech might know how to test the coils properly to see if they're useful. If they are, you could probably sell them back on eBay for someone to use. The amps might even be repairable, but from reading Anatech's responses to other questions, they are involved.

I did some tests on them and there were too many components that had blown. On the one I took apart so far all the output devices were u/s. Add to that the caps that required replacing .... no, too much work. I have parts and boards if anyone wants them. Postage is all I ask.
