Greetings everyone could anyone Shead some light as to the sound quality of the On Semi & Toshiba Storage Devices made in China.
On semi-Devices such as the KTA & KSC series verses the original 2SA & 2SC series of these devices China????
Second Toshiba Storage Devices such as their TTA and TTC series which by the way you can even see the lettering.
I'm quite hesitant to use these devices would be very grateful for any feedback.
Thanks very much!

Those KSA, KSC, KTA and KTC transistors are made in S. Korea by Samsung and KEC.
Some part numbers were licensed from Toshiba - they have the Toshiba grading letters
system. (And probably transistors from the other reputable manufacturers).
Samsung semis division was purchased by Fairchild.
All these transistors are of the reasonably good quality.
Some people will not be interested in Chinese companies products, but this doesn't
include Japanese and western manufacturers factories in China.
TTA and TTC are the latest Toshiba transistors after JEITA registration system was
discontinued.

Thanks Steve my main concern is having to use these if I can't find originals, I noticed some TTA TTC Transistors I received from Digi key were made in China.
I'm not too keen on China Transistors so if I understand you correctly sound quality will be crappie.

Toshiba has a fab in China now. So do ST and ON. They all still have operations elsewhere. If I’m not mistaken the TTA/C come from China, 2S versions Japan. Some stuff like their TO-126 drivers have no 2S equivalent. But the TT versions were originally 2S types at one time (now obsolete).
The ST and ON parts that can come from China don’t always. Check the origin codes on a per lot basis. It’s all just the commodity generic stuff - 2N3904’s, TIPs, some of the MJE’s. Stuff that Chinese makers are already making. Could just as easily come from N. Korea or elsewhere.
I’ve been using the KSA/C from Fairchild since they’ve been making them. It was either that or give up parts that the Jap makers had obsoleted. I was jumping for joy when On acquired the Sanyo line - but alas, that was premature. All the good stuff is gone now - but not before I did EOL buys from Mouser on stuff I used a lot. Now some of it is finding its way to Rochester - just wondering if it’s worth the $300 minimum per line item to get stuff I missed out on.

Yeh, I hear that! man, Nichicon is getting rid of some of their good Caps in addition to Elna.
Thanks very much for your feedback much appreciated!

I almost exclusively use TTA/TTC TO-126 and Toshiba TBC847/857 SMD. Real good performance.
Or , ON 2SC3649/SA1419 , as good as 3503/1381 pair.
Toshiba also makes quite good dual devices (HN1B01F) , and also ON FMBM5551/5401.
Yes , they are ALL made in China ... under the strict guidance of their S. Korean and Japanese masters.
And , even as this is true - these new parts typically are tighter tolerance (and cheaper) than my old parts.
The "big" parts , I am always on the lookout for fake Chinese outputs .... no Ebay MJL/NJW sourcing for me.
But , even from mouser - some of these are sourced from China. No avoiding it.
The SQ issue is total BS , the China factories use the same wafer machines S. Korea/Japan does. same parts - cheaper
outsourced labor.

"Global supply chain" Make the wafers in Japan or Malaysia , ship em' to the slave Uyghur epoxy final manufacturing
faculty. We benefit with precision semi junctions that costs $ 0.45.
It's cheaper to ship a proprietary component to several 3'rd world destinations and exploit the hell out of them.
PC assemblies are all like this. What determines quality is the oversight the OEM commands over it's Asian contractor.
Edit - new Creative labs and Asus Xonar USB sound cards are all junk with bad Xtal oscillators and bloated shady software.
I just bought an older (Taiwan - Xonar DX) .... what a better unit -separate PS input and a quality regulator for the DAC's and control
chips.
I'm testing China 7555 timers and TL084(CN) op-amps for my analog synths. These are slightly better than my older stocks.
I think the Chinese are actually "tweaking" some of these old tech IC's as well as producing them cheap.
Native China IC's like the ESP32 micro are really reliable and competitive. China digital Uart and bluetooth IC's have real good drivers
and are top quality components.
There are some "NO-name" China cap and IC manufacturers that DO make true junk. But I'm sure every country has its "junk"
companies. All the present "PYLE" electronics are scam rated and fail in weeks .... true junk. A lot of recent Parts-express speaker driver
offerings are true China garbage.
PS - Moog synthesizer just shut their N. Carolina factory down so they could outsource the electronics to the cheapest
Asian slave labor camp. It's the only way to remain competitive in the 21'st century.
AI and global exploitation is the way now. "Mom and pop" capitalism is gone.

As I said , silicon wafer might be diffused in a different local then the final chemical/metal assembly.
Here in the US , all they have to do is add the final decals (or plug a sub-assembly) and can say "Made in USA".
"Scamerica" - modern commerce is based on how well you can hide the deceptions.
Nichia and now even Cree export GaN blue/UV (LED) crystal to a china "house".
PC magnetic HDDs' are - platter = Malaysia/controller =Taiwan/ case-final assembly = China.
SSD's are controller = China , NVram = Korea.
But , saying any SQ would remotely be dependent on local is at best .... subjective.
PS - sub PPM "wolverine" uses China TTA/TTC , still sub-PPM...
