Here's hoping that someone can help.
Some years ago, maybe 20!!, I read an article about adding a tube output to a cd player.
2 circuits were given, one for the TDA1541A type dac and the other for the bitstream dac as used in the Philips CD63.
Does anyone know where I can find the article?
Thanks
Andy

Oh well, can't help. I only know paper. There one can know but not have access. Like the David Berning TDA1541A CD output article.
Jean Hiraga did it with a GoldStar CD player in the 1980s. It was a great sounding player after that and it made a number of people unhappy. The circuit might have been published - in French.
Long article! I'm a fan of using transformers on voltage out DACs as mentioned in the article. I've done this with a number of different DACs and with transformers from Sowther, Jensen, Cinemag, Onetics and Edcor. All with various degrees of success. I used to do transformer outs on the DCX2496 (also mentioned) with good results.
But if you want a current out DAC, then transformer is probably not the way to go.
Let us know what you build!

I built a version of the second type but with balanced input for the
SM5872BS DAC . See the CD63 monster thread !!
t worked surprisingly well.
The thread decided to go with Ray's module instead.

Or combine grounded grid and transformer with a twist:Loesch`s approaches are terrible. Go for grounded grid.
Laszlo's Valve Output Stage with Lundahl transformer
Loesch`s approaches are terrible. Go for grounded grid.
my vote also for the grounded grid
i use 6S4P and for buffer ECC88

The grounded grid (or grounded base) topology is the only sensible choice for the TDA.
lcsaszar,
I am sorry to say, but that`s not a nice twist. There is no reason to use a high distortion push-pull amplifier. Otherwise I like your posts very much.
