Using different thickness of transformer EI plates

I was ordering a custom EI power transformer for my tube preamp yesterday. The factory said they are using Kawasaki Z-11 steel plates with thickness at 0.35mm, 0.27mm, 0.23mm. The thinner the plate, the more expensive is the product. Of course, the factory said the sound quality is better with thinner steel plates but he can't tell how good it can be?

Can anyone give me some input about what does Kawasaki Z-11 steel plates mean and the sound quality in using different thickness of steel plates?

for power transformers, 0.35mm is sufficient for reasonable price...
i even use H18 0.35mm cores and results are excellent...

z-11 is what M7 is in the states....

if you have lots of money to spend, why not?
i use those higher quality steels in my OPT's....where they really matter...

Thanks Tony。 Does it mean there is only slight difference between 0.35 and 0.23 steel plates for EI power transformer?

What good is thinner steel plate when making transformer (whatever type)?

for OPT's maybe, though i have yet to try....my experience is limited to Z11 and only for OPT's.....

for power traffos, i can not imagine why i would use thinner lams...
i have used the H50, 0.5mm laminations and found them very adequate,
if core heating is an issue, then use a bigger core size and you are done..
myself is unhappy with cores that you can not hold for 10secs...so my fix is to run then at a lower flux densities....where class AB ss amps power traffos run on 0.9T, i run my tube power traffos anywhere from 0.6 to 0.8T....
upsizing the core one step higher, say from designed 1 inch to 1 1/8 or even 1 1/4 for H50 core makes a good impact on heating...
