Someone asked me to design a 3 way speaker with a middome. So i started looking what is arround (not much it seems) and found this Visaton G 50 FFL middome.
I can't find any reviews or user reports from it but the specs look very good. Anyone got experience with this middome? Is it any good? I know they fell out of favor as they are hard to use it right to modern ways of speaker designing, but this was an explicit demand from this guy.

Dome midranges have one advantage over cone midranges, which is their wide dispersion. I would combine it with a dome tweeter and large round overs at the baffle edges.

i bought a pair quite recently for a proac type of speaker project, this driver has been used in some proac models and falcon acoustics r.a.m studio 30
the project turned out quite nice
but the driver overall diameter is quite large and driver spacing between tweeter and mid gives lobing issues, and i hate those. the driver is also sparsely damped internally so i guess there is room for some improvement

Thanks, The Vifa is out of production and can't be found here anymore in the EU. Ordering from the UK is way to expensive after Brexit.
And the Volt is way over budget, that is more the budget i got for whole set of drivers for one cabinet....
But those Morels look interesting. I can get them over here for reasonable prices and they do look good. Especially the MDM 55. Similar as the Visaton in price and frequency response but with a much smaller bezel (so easy to mount very close to tweeter). And Morel in general has a much better reputation than Visaton i have to say... (Not that Visaton only makes crap or so).

I know that speaker, i did not know it was the Visaton in it as mid. And that speaker is quiet good indeed, i listened to it a lot at the house of a friend who owned one. But i agree with the big besel, it's too big. I was thinking for cuting a piece out of it to make place for the tweeter. But that morel MDM 55 mentioned above actually solves that...

I have recently designed a 3 way with Visaton G50FFL. I can tell you this, this unit is like a magnifying glass, exposing details burried in the recording, you would not normally notice. I needed a 3rd order electrical HP and LP to make it perform as desired.

ScanSpeak D7608 instead may be?
