One of my favourite clubs has a VOID 'AIR MOTION' horn system and matching AIRTEN V3 foldbacks and it is simply the best nightclub sound i've heard in Australia, but I thought i'd have a look at their site for inspiration and OMG. the Incubus series is VERY serious kit that also looks incredible. Any of you guys from the UK heard one? Not all their design is to my taste, but I do love that they are being so playful. You guys have any comment? This spec for the INCUBUS Array ... Jebus

Wow, this is really that uninteresting? I just havent seen it mentioned much around here. plenty of talk of similar (but a bit uglier) american systems I think they look wild and they are very well specified. Not shilling ... I dont even know what these things cost; but I can hazard a guess I cant afford it.

I owned & commissioned the first custom colour, ‘touring’ Incubus system in 2013. It now lives in Oregon. Many famous electronic music artists played on it, and I deployed it from the UK, to the Arctic Circle and even as far as Brazil. Like any system, it has its pluses and minuses, and I can’t argue that some decisions were made for looks rather than acoustics.
Having owned both, I’d take a Danley J3-94 over an Incubus Air Array, but the Incubus Sub is a true monster.
Did you have a specific question?

But the Danley isn't RED, everyone knows that makes the sound warmer!Danley J3-94 over an Incubus
Seriously, it's cool that it doesn't look so [yawn] boring
Oh, how much does it cost?
I haven't heard the incubus but the air motion sounds suprisingly good, even though the directivity plots are not great looking: https://d181c7pevbxova.cloudfront.net/media/support-materials/pdfs/Void Technical Public/User guides V2/UG10519-2.0 - Air Motion User Guide.pdf
I have always been curious as to what the driver arrangment is in the Void Hyperfold, its very deep and contains four drivers somehow?
Another perhaps easier to answer question I have is how do you physicaly stack the incubus system? I figure you need a forklift to stack the top?

Yes. the Air MOTION and matching fold back monitors at my fave electro/techno club, sub rosa look amazing and the for a smallish venue, it was pretty over the top ... lol. Looking incredible is a feature that improves performance subjectively in these situations, since it is about the spectacle. IMO a performance system where the music, not the performer is front and centre, even during live sets this is not to be discounted, and those boys sure knew how to book talent. (well, not all of the nights were good ... i'm too old for EDM parties full of duckfaced posers, but that was at a minimum, reserved for the R&B night) I think its the Nexus they have for sub, I cant be sure from memory. that thing looks brutal.
Just a little diversion the performers loved the sound too; I imagine its a treat having those monitors pointed at your face!! (see pic, lol, yes, they did fetish parties too, kinda tame tho) They were forced to close at that venue and only doing small events regularly, but opening again soon in a new venue just as i'm moving back home 🙂 They shut in our second major lockdown 2021, after struggling through the first lockdown and surviving because of loyal members, doing themed hazmat parties tongue in cheek when all the doom was incoming. They did a lot for the community. I only ever heard them give it a proper good kick in the guts once after-hours. They would regularly get noise complaints while sitting on about 30-40%, a new residential complex opened up in the bloody main street of Fortitude Valley entertainment district. They move into an entertainment district, on the site of a dance club (called The Site) that was literally danced to death and condemned in the 90's due to structural damage and then have the nerve to complain about the noise!!! Is this a worldwide phenomenon?
That and the fact i'm building a 3D printed synergy by @bwaslo at the moment and I thought i'de have a google around for inspiration if i'm going to play with an edited version too. Of course incubus is reminiscent of his work, but I must prefer their style and they have examples of many different horns/arrays. The Incubus is kind of half way between a line array and a synergy/point source MEH (oh god, I cant believe I actually used that term) yeah? i'm new to all these acronyms. Is there something that distinguishes those 2? where the horizontal pattern is much taller?
Thanks for the replies guys.

Hey wow, thats why I love this place 🙂 So is that your system in the Cercle clips? is that Cercle events you are talking about in the Arctic? Yes, that SUB looks mean. Well, do I have a specific question? what drivers are they running? are those enormous heatsinks for the mid-hi CDs? as a company they appear to be expanding like a bose ... erm I mean boss, like a boss with their lifestyle stuff. Are the crossovers/DSP any good?, were you running the digital XO? or something else? I'd love to get a look at the internals/bracing/CLD and materials behind those grills. For sure there are elements that were design led, but i'm totally ok with that if the product is already exceptional. I approve. normal PA stuff all looks the same.I owned & commissioned the first custom colour, ‘touring’ Incubus system in 2013. It now lives in Oregon. Well they do sell these to go with them https://voidacoustics.com/product-ranges/bias-series/bias-q5
That Air Motion system looks like a ripoff of the Avantgarde Audio Trio horn system. I'm sure its not that exotic to stick a few spherical horns together but the Avantgarde system was the first to do it commercially and it sounded pretty good to me. These newer designs are found in more modern clubs oversees (outside of the US) where they are more appreciated for their looks. Most club systems here are just another collection of some ugly boxes or at the other extreme some stupid ubiquitous line arrays that usually sound just as bad to me.I haven't heard the incubus but the air motion sounds suprisingly good, even though the directivity plots are not great looking: https://d181c7pevbxova.cloudfront.net/media/support-materials/pdfs/Void Technical Public/User guides V2/UG10519-2.0 - Air Motion User Guide.pdf
