I've got a prob with a 200W Vortexion (8x EL34s) not making power and wondered if any forum members had any thoughts before I start spending money.
Amps not making power. All power supply caps and resistors have been replaced. There was originally a couple of blown 470k on power supply so I assumed this would fix prob . EL34s have got a steady 482V on Anode and -40V on grid. When loaded up, anode current drops to 430V and scope signal over 4ohm load is all over the place. I can hear something clicking somewhere but cant place it. After a couple of seconds, the scope signal stabilises, is nice and clean and anode voltage sits around 450V. But the amp won't put out more than 120W (would put out 200W+ previously no prob). Any thoughts or advice welcome...….

Have you confirmed each EL34 is passing a similar balanced cathode current to the others?
Do you have a schematic, as this may require some bench testing to try and localise where the fault lies. Do you have extra EL34, as if it is one of them failing then you may need to tube roll to identify.
