I didn't see this one in the list. :xeye:

Anyone have a source for multifilar magnet wire in smaller quantities? Being a DIY'er I only need small amounts.
Sized from 24 ga. to 18 ga. At least 4 conductor.

If you know prices of late, please send them too.

Kerrigan & Lewis is the traditional source for litz wire. I don't know if they will sell small quantities, though. You might also try MWS. I don't recall the URL for either, but a Google search should turn them up pretty quickly. If you're not too fussy, you can twist up your own multifilar wire using an electric drill and a vise, and this will be almost as good as litz wire. There are plenty of sellers on Ebay offering substantial spools of magnet wire at a reasonable discount compared to retail. If you luck on to a spool or two of wire you can pretty much have a lifetime supply. I grab a spool when I can, as it is always good stuff to have around...

I mixed about the idea,

I took multifilar to mean parallel joined and flat across not wound together. This is what I'm really looking for.

This has been the only company found so far, that appears to have the stuff. I hope they're not too expensive or limited to larger quantities.

:smash: I know a vendor we use at work who rewinds motors. I can get magnet wire there too.

That's not the normal meaning of multifilar, but I get what you're asking for now. MWS is a good place to start for a specialty item like flat/parallel wire, but don't be too surprised if you get a case of sticker shock... Actually, 2-3 relatively small wires in parallel in different colors should be fairly standard. The company I worked for when I first moved out to California used the stuff a lot for small RF transformers.

Multifilar means simply several strands of wire used in parallel in one winding - twisted together, flat, or otherwise. If I read you correctly, you may be able to make do with several strands of wire twisted together and avoid having to mortgage your house to buy a roll of special wire...

Litz wire for sale!

Hi, I have a large quantity of litz wire that I am selling. I am not trying to gouge people, but would like to make a little profit!🙄 I bought the inventory from a transformer manufacturer about a year ago. I also have some toroid winding machines I will be selling. I had to outbid the "scrap copper" buyers on this stuff and have to warehouse it.
If you let me know the final circular mills or wire size you need, I will be glad to sell by the foot! I bought this stuff just for this purpose. I tried for years to find a cheap source of small quantity.
I have litz wire from 4X60 gauge up to 400X32gauge. Best regards, Steve:smash: SOLD!

multifilar magnet wire

Hi:
I make multifilar wire. I bond manget wires in parallel like flat ribbon. In many applications, wire winded in parallel will give better frequency then twisted wire. Let me know the size, insulation type, number of wire and quantity. I might be able to make them at reasonble cost. I started to make them when my friend complained about the cost.

I am also interested in toriodal winders.
