Hi, can anyone tell me if the bass driver in the Wharfedale Diamond 2 speaker is the same as that in the Diamond 3? They look identical to me in size and shape and I think the power rating is the same. The reason I am asking is that I have acquired a pair of Diamond 2s but one of the bass units is not original. There is a bass unit from a Diamond 3 for sale on that well know auction site and I am considering buying. As an aside, the tweeters are different on the two models and so is the crossover. Glenn
Yes Glenn, I think it is safe to say that the bass units are the same on both models - Wharfedale’s own 110 mm long throw mid/bass driver with polypropylene cone built on a rigid steel frame.
Wharfedale simply went for an improved tweeter and crossover in the Diamond 3 for a smoother sound.
EDIT: 110 mm not 120 mm.

I found this about the Diamond 3:
"Again the original cabinet volume was retained, the mid/bass unit was still a 110mm mineral-filled homopolymer (MFHP) item but the tweeter was changed to a 19mm LMP dome."
