Hello 👋
Just wanna ask how to remove the plastic face plate on wharfedale 87 blue speaker. Having problem locating the screw mounting or there’s none. I just wanna replace the caps since I’d bought it many years ago.
Thanks

I see screw fixings on the above image.
If your speakers are different, please post a photograph.

The Wharfedale Sapphire SP-87 was released in 1990.
Even if some of the capacitors are bipolar electrolytics, they are unlikely to have aged significantly by now.
It is the electrolytics in speakers from around 20 years earlier that are frequently suspect and in need of replacing.
So, if you can't get in, relax and just enjoy the speakers - as NareshBrd implies.

Hi Galu 👍it’s the same speaker

A good tip for you with vinyl.... 🙂
Try the turntable in another adjacent room or mounted on a shelf screwed to a solid wall.
No bass feedback to the tonearm, hence cleaner sound. 😎

So, are those "fixings " I see on the photo actually just locating points for the fabric covered grille?Hi Galu 👍it’s the same speaker
Tell us more.
Yes that’s for covering . Have you tried removing those facing cover? Or how to get access to that speakers screws
Yes I do have a problem. this speaker has been with me for awhile. its sounding dull and could hear breaks up even a single sitar and tabla didn't hear any. hmm. I taught this site is for DIYer dedicated to help everyone to Modify and Update a system.
If the sound is breaking up, it could simply be down to a loose/intermittent connection - either at the terminal binding posts, somewhere on the crossover printed circuit board, or at the terminals of an individual driver....could hear breaks up...
Is the breaking up a loss of all frequencies simultaneously, or does it only affect a particular frequency range e.g. the treble?
If particular frequency, change caps. That little electrolytic is a good quality one, or mediocre?
Before that check for dry joints, or simply add a little fresh solder at all the joints.
Could be brittle lead free solder.
Flux not removed, clean it off please...

Please note that the crossover shown in my attachment is that of the Sapphire 83, not that of its big brother the Sapphire 87.That little electrolytic is a good quality one, or mediocre?
Hopefully, msj965 will soon be in a position to post a photograph of the Sapphire 87 crossover, after which we can examine its components.
Hello ,
Hey Galu just unscrewed the back mounting terminal post but no luck maybe the crossover is still mounted at the center of the box. Ived searched the internet even the block diagram of this particular model but still nothing. Ived tried frying the plastic facia but scared ruin it up. Hope on this site guide me and give me illustrations how to dismantle this speaker.

I can't find any reference to removing the plastic fascia.
It either clips onto the main enclosure or, if you are unlucky, is glued on.
As you say, trying to pry the fascia off risks damaging the cosmetics of the loudspeaker.
Sorry I can't be of any more help. 🙁

Other than say that the best place to approach prying off the facia would appear to be from the bottom, below the reflex port. Any damage to the woodwork would be less visible there.
Also, this link gives some pointers on how to remove a non-removeable grille:

I may be able to help... 😀
Appears the grille plugs double as Concealed screw fixings for the plastic fascia!

Time to use your flashlight or thin philips screwdriver one supposes.

The second issue (not an important one to me) are the flimsy grilles. The pegs have a bad tendency to break-off in the sockets, requiring you to drill them out if you ever want to access the internal workings of the speakers.
And finally, and this really just nit picking, is that because of the polymer trim around the drivers, you have to remove 8 screws to access any single driver. Tragic, I know.
