What is the maximum volt to use with this car amp?..

Guys i have a mono car amp chinese version ..a friend gave it to me after it burnt its smps MOSFETs i took it try to power it with 20± , it came on ...about it circuit it written every part of it in the board ie may be a place with Transistor A1015 then it written in the board ..its power transistor are A1695 and C4468 ..but in the board it written A1941 and C519 i think they did change those transistor before with smaller one

But my questions is how much max volt should i give it ..am currently using it with 20± it sound very good and put out ac voltage in its ouput of about 12vac thats about 36w at 4ohms load very clean and with about 18vac thats about 80w at 4ohms i think that is peak power....

Can someone tell me what is the maximum volt can i use with it...

My english is not good hope you understand

A nominal 12 volts such as you find across a car battery is the maximum you can apply. An absolute maximum if you were running this from a DC power supply would be in the region of the 14.4 volts Jon mentions. That would be a voltage seen across a car battery when charging.

Do not use more voltage... the circuit will fail otherwise.

I understand what you are doing now......

My answer would be that without circuit details we just don't. I wouldn't like to guess either.

That said you could look at the voltage rating of the reservoir caps on the rails and knock perhaps 30% off that voltage to get an absolute maximum safe rail voltage.

Also look for any unique IC's that run off the rails directly and see what the data sheets show as absolute maximum voltage ratings.

I'm going to move this to the car amp forum. You might get more help that way 🙂

means he is NOT using the SMPS so any mention of car battery is not applicable here.
He´s straight applying split voltage rails to power amp from an external supply.

Just an educated guess, if supply capacitors are rated 35V, I would not apply more than +/- 30V rails; so expected +/-28V "should" be acceptable.

In any case, power transistor heatsinking is very poor, so not high power expected anyway.
