Something tells me these products have a common OEM. I dunno, just a gut feeling.

Currently trying to find a bluetooth receiver that either has a good analog out, or good SPDIF out, in either module or consumer product form.

Shouldn't be rocket science to add one. Take the signal that goes to the optical emitter, run it into an unbuffered hex inverter and then an appropriate pulse transformer with the appropriate filter network.

Who still remember the typical prices of these things?

I'm noticing many of them are getting discontinued. The ones that are still available are asking for $50 which is much higher than I remember. I remember they were at least cheaper than this which was complete bovine excretion.

The new clone wars appear to involve this guy with both transmitting and receiving capabilities and optical in and out. Quite functional for $20.

Bluetooth Transmitter Receiver Digital Optical Toslink SPDIF APT-X 3.5mm Adapter | eBay

Will crawl the web when I get the time to uncover what is inside.

Meanwhile I found one clone of the original subject on sale for $30. Finally can buy these now that I'm in the USA, this may be now or never.
