Where to buy a SMD Hotplate in Europe?

Where do I get an affordable rework hotplate in EU?

The UYUE946C Electronic Hot Plate on e.g. Aliexpress looks good for the purpose. Anywhere in EU where these are stocked and there will be no problems with toll?

SMDs are getting smaller and smaller and some of the newer power devices hade pads on the underside so need an improved solution to soldering iron and hot air solder station

Ali prices are now VAT-included if you select DK as your delivery country. If the seller uses an "approved" carrier there should be no problems with VAT or any additional charges/paperwork**.

**Disclaimer: I have had one f-up where the seller made some sort of mistake on the paperwork and I ended up having to pay twice + the Postnord fee, but it's been once out of quite a lot of orders so the risk seems to be very low.

Yes. I have almost stopped buying from non-EU from ebay and switched to Alixpress because there are no additional charges with Ali. The one screw-up is from probably +50 orders over around a year, so it seems pretty reliable.

Note that the package is still held for customs (sometimes for a while) and the last-mile tracking with Postnord might still say that there are charges to pay, but that's just the standard text for that tracking status I guess.

Toaster ovens bear close watching. When we need a new one it’s a matter of picking the least worst from online reviews. A couple days ago I got up to find a circuit breaker popped. The toaster oven had inadvertently been left on. When I reset the breaker and turned the oven off, it didn’t turn off but heated up again! So now we’re back to trying to pick out a new one.

A toaster oven can also put a DC component into your mains and make a toroidal transformer buzz; my setup now includes a line conditioner with DC blocker because of the toaster oven we had back then.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll go for the hot plate. I actually tried using my Pizza oven. Maybe I did not leave the PCBs there long enough, but it didn´t turn out right. Also not really fond og mixing food and solder fumes 😉

Also an oven takes up a lot of space.

Stensils .. yes that is also a must I think for getting good results with very small pitch size ICs

Not to belabor the whole thing, but I feel I should add:

1. In retrospect, "Toaster ovens bear close watching" probably shouldn't be taken literally, i.e. putting your face too close to it while it's operating. Poor choice of words from the standpoint of safety!

2. Regarding DC component injected into your mains--whatever info I found on the web when I was researching my own buzzing transformer problem said that any heat-producing small appliance might be capable of doing that. Toaster, toaster oven, hot plate, whatever. In my own case it turned out to be the toaster oven.

I'm not saying not to use whatever works for you, just be careful with it.

For electronics tools, Banggood is a verry good shop. Many items are at EU warehouse, with free and fast shipping inside EU (usually DHL packet). I bought half of my tools from that store.
Hot plate is available and much cheaper than anywhere else:
