Hi,
I have a McIntosh MC2000 with burnt out resistors, capacitors and transistors. I brought the amplifier in Europe and now living in Singapore. The McIntosh local distributor/reseller refused to sell parts and have rather bad service terms (total indemnification of electrical, physical and theft of unit) + high servicing costs for non-Agent unit.....
I contacted McIntosh USA, and the parts department was kind to send an email to get the local Agent to sell parts and I was advised to continue to contact them. I did that for 2 weeks. Sadly I was just led around by the local agent after 10+ emails and phone calls.
I am not sure if McIntosh USA would sell me parts to Singapore...It's the holiday season and I didn't hear from them....
Is there any other ways to buy the same parts for a McIntosh Amplifier? It is limited edition MC2000 and I would prefer to use the same parts model for replacement.
I am surprised it is so hard to get parts for a 15k McIntosh amplifier....My other option is just to buy same color parts from Digikey.
I think this would be my last McIntosh purchase.
Thank you for your help.

Heh, I'll take it off your hands if you're looking to offload it! 🙂
I'm not surprised at the capacitors, but I am surprised that the transistors and resistors need replacing as well -- did you test them or do they look bad?
I've got a McIntosh MC250 (solid state) that I recently re-capped. I just tried to find close values from the service manual and ordered some nice, but not boutique, parts from Digikey (Nichicon KZ series).
Just on a lark I've also looked up replacement transistors to see if any were still available, and often you can find sites that will match the McIntosh part number to actual values. For example, McIntosh #132136 seems to be MPS-A42 (MPSA42 Fairchild Semiconductor | MPSA42FS-ND | DigiKey, source: MPS-A42 Replacement for NPN 132-136 - AudioKarma.org Home Audio Stereo Discussion Forums).
There was a site I found a while ago where you could actually browse these things, but my google-fu isn't working tonight.

Oof. The chances of "finding" another one are slim-to-none. They're $15k new, $6-8k used! Even a 'broken' one would probably not go for less than $3k.
Or You can look for parts from the same brands /caps, transistors.../, acc. parts inside. About burned resistors is hard.....Do You have a schem?
The parts that that measured bad is only 1 resistor and 1 transistor. From this forum's members help, I got a better understanding of the problem (bad output tube) and would like to replace some others parts along the way.
It is a chore to take out the amplifier board in MC2000.
I could get most parts from Digikey, but would prefer to use stock from Mcintosh.
If I don't get help from McIntosh USA, I probably have to just buy from Digikey....
Self-serving local resellers are putting the legendary support reputation of McIntosh products to drain....I think the days of McIntosh Amplifiers lasting 40 years are over.

I'd send it to Audio Classics there next door to McIntosh Labs and pretty much know everything about McIntosh equipment, they will replace the parts from the fractory. They've always taken good care of my Mac stuff.
I just got a message from McIntosh USA. They will help to provide parts once the local Singapore agent agree to it. The McIntosh USA parts department has been helpful from the beginning.
I wait for a few days to see how it turned out. Else I will just buy from Digikey (found most of the parts I needed there).
I won't contact the local agent anymore. They are just keen to maximise profit from the McIntosh product distribution rights they secured.

McIntosh USA reverted. The service manager there decided not to sell parts. And the only way is still through the local distributors...
I guess it is a profit-drive world now. And support and service are just empty promises; even for a "limited edition" amplifier.
I will get the parts from Digikey then. While at it, I will probably recap all the cheaper Rubycon electrolytic caps with Elna Silmic or Nichicon.
Thanks everyone for the help! I appreciate it.
