digital is a moving target
every year technology advanced
and you don't want to get lock in some expensive device,
tube preamp on the other hand
have been pretty amazing for the last 30 years.
Thats like a set and forget investment...

if you don't want to assemble a dac yourself,
audio GD is a good bet, the packaging is awsome (comes from china)
i bought 3 of them always been very satisfy,
closer to canada there is the ayre QB-9DSD
and if you want the best it's the Total Dac
