Which is the most powerful Class D amplifier?

Loudness has more to do with the efficiency of the loudspeakers then the power of the amplifier.

For example a 100 watt amplifier is only 3dB louder then a 50 watt amp. Connect a 98dB speaker to the latter and a 93dB to the former and the 50 watt combo will go louder.

Output power can also be defined in many different ways, ie at what level of distortion was the measurement taken, at what frequency and whether or not they are displaying a peak or continuous figure.

As to the maximum rated power the unit can draw from the wall, this is even more ambiguous as we don't know how efficient the internal parts are and we also don't know if the power supply has been designed to be able to deliver enough current for continuous maximum operation, or just a peak value.

Since I'm not really interested in which guitar amp can play the loudest, or has the most powerful amp section as that is completely and utterly irrelevant for a guitar player like me as there are hundreds more important things about a guitar amp than output, I'll just answer the question which is the most powerful class D amp at all. And it's probably PKN 3PHASE-40K. 4x10000W in a 1U rack is at least the most powerful amp I've heard off that is commercially avaiable. Interesting thing is that the PKN is in part designed by resident DIYaudio poster, Pafi (it's the P in PKN).

Unfortunately is't not me. I'd be proud, but no. I'm Peter Sass, while one of the designers is Peter Papp. We are all Hungarians, I've met the PKNC designers, talked about power supply design, maybe I had a little influence on it, but I haven't designed any part.

I agree but what is the interpretation of the specs.?

..as 5th element says there are many different ways to measure power in amplifiers

The Fender Mustang IV says "150W" on its website, but has "350W" written on the chassis of the amplifier.

There should be a standard for class d power rating, as 5th element above alludes.

Since the lowest guitar note is 82Hz, i am surprised they dont just use that and say what max average power the class d can put into a speaker when playing 82Hz sine.
