I have an MF X-Can v3 which came with a plug pack power supply, I thought I'd look into building a better option similar to the linear supply I built for a Bugle Phono pre amp I made.
I noticed that the X-Can only requires 12-0-12 Vac, does this mean all I need is a transformer in a nice box with the appropriate hardware, switch and fuse or am I missing something.
Maybe an RFI suppressor or something similar.
Cheers

Most probably you're right, Steve. 😉I noticed that the X-Can only requires 12-0-12 Vac, does this mean all I need is a transformer

There's lots of suggestions on proper PSU designs both on this forum and on the entire web.
I'd suggest to look for kits in the forum shop and the vendor section and build a CRC or CLC
style PSU with a 2 x 9V 30 to 50 VA toroidal.

Ok, I see you mentioned, it's 2x12 V AC. Then you'd just need the transformer only.I don't need DC, that is done inside the X-Can.
However, I'd strongly recommend to build a DC PSU, giving the chance to provide
improved filtering (CRC or CLC with increased capacitances), then feed the X-Can
with clean DC only. When done right, this will definitely reduce noise.
You probably already know that stuff:
