* SOLD *
A pair of Yamaha JA6681B compression drivers featuring their famous patented diaphragms.
Close Serials #104036 and #104065. Original diaphrams visually inspected. Close coil resistance 12.6 and 12.5 ohms.
The absorbing foam (black) is present in one cover and was cleaned up from the other. Note that this foam disintegrates over time, and is best removed. It looks like one diaphragm was resoldered. Perhaps it was removed to clean up foam particles? (I am guessing).
Most important: The fingers of both diaphragms look fine: none is broken that I can see.
By mistake I threw away the front gasket of one of the drivers... A DIY replacement would do.
These outstanding drivers are becoming hard to find. Look at the reviews. For those of you who already own the JA6681: buy these as spares!
What's a fair price?
Let's say: drivers including diaphragms: 690 USD + shipping
North America preferred.
Pierre

Very interested, if you still have them. Am somewhat new here, but I’m on Hifi Haven, eBay and US Audio Mart if that helps. Would love to try these in my Azurahorn AH 340s.
Thanks-

Hi Harry
I am glad that someone (you) is interested. These are great drivers. I'm away from home till Sunday. Can you wait till then for shipping?
Are you based in the continental USA?
Best regards
Pierre

Hi Pierre-
Thank you for your prompt response. I’m not in a big rush so shipping when you return is fine. I sent you a PM as well; perhaps we can take care of logistics via email?
Much appreciated and best regards-

ps..
We’re in the continental USA but many of us here would prefer to be in Canada these days-🙂

No problem. Click on the envelope in the top right corner of this site. Next on the 'show all' link. Next on our 'shipping address' discussion. Second message from last you should see the tracking number.
The package crossed the border, is in USPS hands and on track.
Ping me again if the above does not work.

Hi Pierre-
My tech- Eddie Pletka at Eurotubes here in Portland- has mounted the drivers in my horns as he’s developing crossovers for me. One of them is fine, but the other one has a diaphragm that rubs and is not usable. He says he spent about two hours trying to find a way to fix it with no luck. Any ideas? Since replacement diaphragms aren’t available, I’m at a loss. This is most disappointing.
Thanks and best-

Oh no!
This really sucks... I honestly thought I had purchased a pair of usable drivers and wanted to pass them on to a fellow DIYer to enjoy. Maybe I got screwed.
I don't know if a rubbing coil (assuming this is what this is) is fixable.
If you like, I can give you your money back. Just let me know.
Regards

Thanks Pierre. I saw Eddie today and was able to listen to the working driver in my big Azurahorn AH 340. It sounds really good. He had to clean the gap, but then it was fine. He told me he spent a couple of hours trying to get the other one to work, and it was apparent that it had probably been modified at some point. He rotated the diaphragm in every possible position totaling 360 degrees, a unique possibility with it due to the way its construction. No difference.
I'd appreciate a refund. I can return the drivers to you but shipping will be expensive, as you know. Perhaps I could sell them individually to recoup some of the money for you instead? What do you think would be best?
Much appreciated-

PS. Let me know if you'd like Eddie's contact information, as he can clarify his process. He is very experienced and does beautiful work on drivers, crossovers, tube amps and more...
