Yamaha R-N 500

Good morning,

I am looking to repair a Yamaha R N500 amplifier.

The amplifiersafe in safe mode. Nothing is displayed on the screen (which doesn't make things easy!). Only the power indicator seem to work.

I forced the amplifier to start using the method described in the service manual by protecting the amplifier with a safety bulb.

The relays have all activated but not the screen!

In terms of voltages it doesn't seem bad, I have a 3.3V, a 5.5 and a 12V.

The temperature sensor is not the cause of the problem either.

Do you have an idea or a path to follow to try to troubleshoot it ?

Thanks in advance

Yes i have the service manual and the equipment.

I'm trying to understand what's causing the screen to show nothing. I measured the few capacitors on the screen card, they are ok. I lean more towards an absent tension which...

Excellent

I just downloaded a service manual for my next job, a late model multi channel marantz.
It is 212 pages and very comprehensive.
It includes diagnostic flow charts and test procedures.
I'd suggest having a look through your manual, and hopefully it will point the way ?

Start by checking the voltages perhaps.

Good morning,
I continued my measurements and moved forward. the microprocessor cuts the power supply to the transformer via the protection relay which explains why there is no display because -VP is suddenly absent.

After reading the schematic, I do not understand how he work. For me the transformer winding that produces the 38V is not connected because the RY204 relay does not connect BH2.
