Hi,
I have both a yamaha stagepas 600i and another pa system at my church that uses 2 passive main speakers with an amp of course and an allan and heath mix wizard soundboard. I would like to purchase sub woofers that work with both systems. What do I need to buy?
Thanks
Troy

The A&H will send a mono out which can run a powered sub without any issues. It is best practise to use ONE sub. More than one sub in a building gives phasing issues that will deaden the bass in pockets. The human ear cannot pickup the subs sound source so a larger sub out of the way is probably best.
You want powered subwoofers, there are many to chose from but as usual bigger and more powerful gets you more output per box but at a cost of portability. In what I would call the portable category for pro audio applications anyway would be the 15" versions of the Electrovoice EKX series, the Yorkville Parasource series, JBL PRX, Yamaha DXS, Turbosound IQ and others. Some of these brands also have 12" versions but you might need 2 to 4 12" boxes to equal the output of a single 18" so it just depends what you are comfortable with. And there is no problem with using more than one sub but it's often better sonically to cluster them together.. though it does depend what results you want.. you can "steer" the bass somewhat by separating the boxes and some of these new subs have cardioid processing built in too but that always comes at the cost of some output.

Will I need something to work with the woofer? (Some sort of a rack processor?) or will the woofer work fine alone with the A&H mixer?
These powered subs have all the necessary processing they need built-in you just have to send them a signal. Will I need something to work with the woofer? (Some sort of a rack processor?) or will the woofer work fine alone with the A&H mixer?
