I am building a tube preamp that has a control panel that I want to illuminate with incandescent pilot lamps.
In watching this video (see below), Mr. Carlson points out that the amp he has on his bench has pilot lamps on the control panel. The lamps have a "helmet like" shade that covers the bulb.

Can you still get those types of lamp holders or something similar? Can someone point me in the right direction? In googling, I find so many types of lamps I am overwhelmed 😉

I would use leds with the same colour temperature white light as the incandescent lamps, makes life easier and reduces the amount of high voltages floating around (unless you use 12V lamps). But it does make the whole design a bit easier. A few years ago I did some boards where we replaced the old lamps on a jet console for LED modules, the same look can be achieved.
what frame on the video? -- not gonna watch all 2 hours.
you're probably looking for a "hooded pilot lamp" -- you might call Antique Electronic Supply, or Aircraft Spruce. The latter has a lot of bulbs/lamps for avionics.
