Pin 5 is the negative rail (ground as far as the IC is concerned).

Pin 7 is the power supply pin for the IC (12v referenced to the negative rail).

I don't know what was wrong with the amp to make the regulator fail. I don't want you to reconnect the IC and have a fireworks show. I'd strongly recommend using low voltage with the extra windings (removing the original rectifiers). You have to decide what you want to do.

The amp is fixed!! Just the two l7812..
Little confusing using -rail as ground..
Output on driver board pin#13 now has +-5vp.p.
