Could diy's ever build these amps from scratch? I know it might be cheaper on the wallet to purchase one built. But, in the spirit of diy let's explore. Maybe a JC1 build in the future?

I picked an hca1000 up for $200 a while back, think it’d be hard to make one from scratch for less than that.
Would be rewarding to build one though, is a great amp!

My friend has the 2200 series 2 and they sound nice. I thought it might be a cool project.

Buy them used guys. You CAN'T build one at any reasonable price. They are good 'bang for buck' and unfortunately people know that, so IF you can find a used one at a reasonable price, buy it.

Well.... it doesn't get any better then that. When the man that designed it speaks we should take his advise. So true they are very reasonable priced used.

I have a HCA-1500 going to a tech buddy to replace the output/driver stage on the L channel. I made the mistake of driving Vandersteen 3A's in mono bridge. I know, I know .... just to say these are a GREAT value and in my case, worth fixing. I can't replace with a better amp for the cost, so I agree whole heartedly with the other member's comments.
