Hey MP9, I finally got my S1616D. I’m using the same WE 30b tubes that I had in the 8600S, and after just a couple days, listening to a bunch of different genres, I much prefer the S1616D. It’s more spatial, the lower mids (and below) are significantly more than with the 8600 - changing the performance of my open baffle speakers. Detail in the highs is less crisp but sounds better to me - a little grittier. Maybe that’s the increased Even Harmonic Distortion of a full SET amp??
And it doesn’t feel slow to me (which I was concerned about). And…It’s got a lot more punch/power behind it - Maybe from the Hashimoto transformers. I’d take it over the Elekit 8600s for sure.

Please give us an 8600 S1616D compare and contrast write up after you spend some time listening to the S1616D I have not heard either. I gravitate to Tube Rectified and Point to Point wiring but like what's been said of the 8600's follow up act fully pimped out Amorphous core OPT's and silver AN cap 8900

RE: 5AR4 I only have an 1962 HH SCOTT made in USA GE tube. The tube has been solid and I feel no need to tube roll, replace or keep a spare NOS 5AR4 on hand. I'm happy with it and have nothing to complain about of it's sound
