Does anyone know if the 6l6 can be used in high output? I love my TU-8200 and with the TU-8200, you get 8.2 wpc versus the 5wpc on the the TU-8850. It looks like you're sacrificing wpc on the smaller tubes on the TU-8850.
I totally agree with you. The little brother has more output using 6L6. I've listened to KT170 on another amp and just didn't care for it. I felt it was lifeless. The Tungsol 6l6 coke bottle is my favorite as well as the Tungsol KT150. I saw posting for another user using KT150 on the 8200 and decided to give it a try on the and absolutely love it. The unit never ran hot and I consistently checked on it and have been using for the entire year.Hi, Victor.
The TU-8850 is really attractive if i drive it by KT-88 or above. It terms of ouput, the TU-8200R seems better than this big brother if i use 6L6 or EL34. Certainly, i don't know how the sound difference by using same tubes.
May i have your comments before i make my decision? Thanks
Still waiting patiently for those mono blocks 😀
In the meantime, what does the output mode ‘High’ and ‘Med’ actually change?
I’d like to run EL34, but 7.5w is a little low, I get 12w out of my other amp with EL34 in UL. Can I run EL34 in ‘High’ mode or modified in some other way to increase output?
