Ideal lenses always project straight lines into straight lines, and therefore planes into planes.

This means whenever 3 noncolinear points of an LCD are focused onto a wall, the whole LCD is focused, regardless of the angle between them. Unless they are parallel the image is distorted though, and keystone correction must be applied.

Here is a sketch of some geometry involved.

Thus there is no restriction to where a projector can be placed in a room in relation to a projection wall, other than those given by the appliable keystone corrections, acceptable brightness nonuniformity or practical projection lens adjustments and departures from ideal lenses.
