Sometimes answers come from odd places...
A few years ago, I stayed in a bed and breakfast that had an antique loo with a wooden reservoir. With everything else in this building upwards of 200 years old, I new the plumbing wasn’t original, but this water closet was old and it seemed that the oaken tank could not possibly have survived on its own.
Perhaps its the home owner in me, but I can think of more than a few times that Ive been compelled to examine the inner workings of some one else’s toilet. (It takes a secure man to admit such a thing)
Well the trick here was that the tank had been lined with copper and all it joints soldered.
