Goodness! So many! Ummm, where to start?

For me, being able to hear "into" the musicianship of a guitar solo is a major hallmark of increased resolution of the hifi system.

Dire Straits "Sultans of Swing"
Joe Satriani "Always With Me, Always With You"
Pink Floyd "Comfortably Numb" (two big solos in the one song!)
Queen "I Want to Break Free" (especially the long basswards grind at the end of the solo) But hey, try to pick a queen track where Brian's trying and he doesn't blow you away
Metallica "Fade to Black"
Eagles "Hotel California"
Bob Marley "No Woman No Cry" (live at the London Lyceum)

That's seven from me, let's let someone else have a shot.

No doubt I've missed many stunners.

Drew

fav solos?
If the player is good , i tend to like his soloing in General.
Alex lifeson-rush
Steve Howe - yes
David Gilmour - Pink Floyd
Buck Dharma - BOC
Nuno Bettencourt-extreme
Ulrich Roth - EARLY Scorpions
Robin Trower
Ronnie Montrose - Montrose, Gamma

There are a ton more , but these guys make me want to practice
up on my chops every time i hear 'em

Hi,
Are you sure thats a guitar?
Seems like a 5-stringbass to me..sounds great though. :)
Better beware, or you might fly too low. :xeye:
I dont like guitarsolo's very much (they're usually much too long), but i'll make an exception for :SABRE DANCE (Kachaturian) Love Sculpture ....

I never thought of that.
but you are right, a normal guitar have 6 strings.
Maybe the webdesigner did not know?
Or has some difficult to count, to six ... :D  :D

About Jimi Hendrix - a man with a real brain!
more intelligent than most of us.
At least when he did use his brains ....

/halo

I wouldn't say that Hendrix has played the greatest guitar solos ever (listen to Devin Townsend's metal-symphony Terria (there's a particularly impressive one on track three (or five), I believe)... now there's a talented young lad...); the skill of the average musician has improved drasticly since the sixties, so I'd say he's easily outgunned today.

But solos are, IMHO, just the guitarist showing of his technique (showing off... self-love... w***ing...) - nowhere near as impressive (nor as difficult) as playing a really spanking rhythm guitar.

But of course, I only say this cos I couldn't solo if my life depended on it :)

for free..

Yes.
Certainly. But it has to be FREEware.
And should have FUZZ OVERDRIVE playing mode.
And possibility to save in a format
that can be played with WinAmp3

/halo - he is the beginning of a Rocking Band
You dont want to spend a lot of money and that ain't gonna make things easy.
But if you are prepared to connect youre computer to the phono-inputs of youre stereo amp, you could try this guitar to "rehearse" and... its for free...
Have fun with it, see ya. ;)

Thanks tito

I think I have to listen to that Brian, in Queens.
I have missed that guy.

Yes, I think you do. Did you know that when Brian May was a little boy, he was playing stretched out strings and rubber bands and one day he and his dad started staring at the mantel piece board over the fireplace and they took it down, cut out a neck and body and built the guitar he played to this day?

That's rock 'n roll.

Guitat Solo

How about Leslie West on the Mountain Album The Road Goes Ever On. The version of Nantucket Sleigh Ride takes up one side of the album and is killer. My other favorite of his but the recording is CRAP is Dreams of Milk and Honey off of Flowers of Evil. Good stuff bad recordings
