Over the last 10 years I have been building and selling all sorts of electronic pcb's and systems.
It started off with a couple of sets of drawers for components.
I now have the drawers plus about 6 cardboard boxes full of components.
As it has grown incrementally I know exactly which component is in which box.
To add to the confusion I have about one square foot left on the bench to work in.

For myself, when convenience strays beyond waist-high workbench stuff....I go vertical. I now have stuff that is really too high in cabinetry, that of which I declare, "not likely to be accessed"...also the stuff that really is floor height too...So, I wind up with a " U shaped" collection of cabinets...one can still wrap it around, just prior to 360 degrees...a walkway if you will...where one squeezes thru a narrow collection of storage. What I came up with was a collection of differing cabinet styles, sizes & colors.
