Any fans of Cal Tjader?
Quite! I have a copy of that on vinyl and it arrived so dirty (and yet, new.....) GAH. Great old-school musician!
I'm not exactly a picture of regular fan-boy, but when I stumbled on this, I had widest green ...........
after watching it, I'm still greening

Back in the day I was working as a limousine driver. Mostly fun job. Regular business meant making a lot of airport runs, getting people to and from SeaTac airport. One evening my pager goes off: can I grab a sedan and make it to the airport? Sure, why not? When I get my client to the car, I automatically open the rear passenger door and she tells me, "Please, I'd rather sit in the front. I've been on a plane with nobody to talk to for hours!" I get her in the front and we chat all the way to her condominium, and during that chat I find out she is a producer for Northern Exposure. (As of today I realize it was likely Diane Frolov.) She was calm, gracious and interesting, and we would meet again on later airport trips. Those were the people that made the job enjoyable.
I am slacking…. One more video to watch hundreds of times and forget.sorta recent one, got a link from friend
Thanks ZM!
Right back at ya!
In the early -00s I was exploring some old and forgotten Inca trails in Bolivia. One was crossing the Andes from outside La Paz over to the Yungas, the mountain slopes towards the Amazonas. After a week or two I found some civilization. Judge my surprise when I found out that me and this guy and his band was the only guests on the hotel I found.
Unfortunately not but they told me that they had been shooting video material. I was mostly happy having crossed the Andes and gotten thru the jungle so I was chilling with screwdrivers by the dirty pool. On the way back I got a lift with the hotel manager of German origin and his truck on the Camino de la muerte.
New win. Piastri was the name. F1 is starting to get big in the US now. Probably the Netflix series bumped that up. Some serious tech for them 🙂
I went to the last F1 race in Long Beach, 1983, had best tickets I could afford, great on day one, not so great day two, went to ticket office to see what an upgrade would cost and hopefully get a military discount. Lady at the booth had pity on us and upgraded the tickets to ful paddock and garage passes with great seats as well. We were so tight on money just to go to the even it was a real blessing and made it worth it sleeping in our car under an overpass near the track. Even then the cars were pretty amazing but what really got to me was the karts, twin engine, lay down with only feet and head sticking up, they were 20 MPG slower on the main straight but faster in the turns, 2 seconds slower than the F1 cars, that is crazy fast on a kart.

Yea. The F1 has gone just as crazy as football and the rest of the world. 10 years ago you could get a 3 days pass to Monza for a fee most people could save up for, like $2-300. Now it’s like $10-1500. Covers inflation well enough. Entertainment is for the rich, the rest can get 2-3 jobs and barely pay rent. Then the headlines wonders why ppl vote popular. Go figure.
Ps. Popular is someone who tells you he or she is going to change things very easy, like magic. In fact it’s going to worsen things, but the last 1/3 of the population doesn’t care because no one cares about them anyway so they can give it a shot.

I went to a couple of the Long Beach Grand Prix events in the late 80's. That was a good time... we went to dinner at a nice seafood restaurant down near the water one year and my ears perked up as I was hearing southern accents all around me. Then I realized why, the place was full of race crews
