Your post looks very interesting to me. I've just build de studio monitors of Vance LDC6.
Now I'm testing them with different fillings. I found that a lot of fillings soud better because the box is more dampted.
But the more I damp the box with wool the more that the upper mids are irritating me. Just as you decribed.
I think the irritating frequentie is approximately 2KHZ.
Now I'm going to try to increase the resistor in the tweeter network. If this doesn't help then I'm planning to make a network to reduce the 2Khz of the tweeter.
Can you tell me where to place the network in the tweeter high pass filter?
Does the extra network, to reduce the 2Khz, has an influence on the total filter?
Which values of capacitor, coil and resistor recomment you.
