Looking for a good place to Blog ...

Just trying this out. I tried out Wordpress and found that it was rather limited in formatting in that many of the offered templates were not what I wanted. Perhaps this is better, or full custom would be better. I'm not really looking to do a chronological blog as much as a static place organized by pages or categories to post my thoughts and selected projects. Many of the Wordpress templates did not even get the hierarchical pages right, and you have to pay to edit the CSS.

    Hi Pete,

I've always had the idea that Wordpress was quite good. I quite like the clarisonus.com blog that was made with Wordpress.

    Kind regards,
    Bas

The latest version of Wordpress is just brilliant. I'll be doing what I can to bring our (vbulletin) blogging system up to scratch (it's nicer in vb4), failing that I will throw the baby out with the bathwater and find a way to integrate wordpress in to vbulletin

Give this place a few months and we'll be sitting on a "visually beautiful" website, but for now I have other matters of more importance than the skin.

    Hi Bas,
Thanks for you comments. Here's the Blog you're speaking about?:
ClariSonus - Clear and enjoyable sound » Acoustics

Yes, I agree that it looks nice, I'll take your word for it that the content is good, however to me it seems messy. It seems that if the content is more than just journal type comments there are better ways for organizing the categories.
Wordpress allows for multiple Blogs so perhaps the best way is to have one for Computers, another for Audio Electronics, Loudspeakers ... etc.
Not sure what is the best, easy and convenient way to do it.

    Hi Jason,

The emphasis here is not Blogging so I can understand just wanting to keep it simple. I like keeping things organized so hierarchical categories would be something important from my perspective. I also like to be able to edit and delete things forever since I like to add/remove/ and improve, but I can understand the perspective that a blog is a record/journal of a person's thoughts at the time of writing.
