This is the mike cable coiled up, but I'm measuring only one wire, so it's a solenoid. The reason for this measurement is to determine the sensitivity of the meter to placing a metal dissipator in the center of the coil where there would only be a solenoidal field. I kept the metal at least 5 centroids away from the wire. When the stainless is put into the center, it tends to exclude the field which decreases inductance while it dissipates some energy, increasing what the meter reads as series resistance. The meter cannot distinguish between wire resistance increase due to proximity and eddy losses in the metal. Note that the inductive drop is frequency dependent, as the eddies are caused by rate of change of the field.
