Best Speaakers I can make for Gryphon Atilla

Hello. I want to make the best speakers I can for my amplifier (Gryphon Atilla). For this I would like to take into account the following:

- The sound that I like the most is the Magico Mini (I have not heard it with other Magico)
- The Amplifier delivers 100 W at 8 Ohm and 200 at 4 Ohm

The characteristics that I like the most in the sound are these:

- Soft and detailed treble
- Bass tight and very strong
- With lots of air in the reproduction

I currently have some Polk RTi7 and I do not like them at all as they sound with the Atilla, Some Cambridge Audio that sound very artificial, and some Monitors Behringer Truth B2031P that are cheap but for me they sound much better than the previous 2, more detailed, the sharp But soft but do not have much bass.

Preferably with drivers that are not extremely hard to get.
I could spend up to about $ 2,500.- on drivers.

I had a look at Polk RTi A7, if that is your speakers, and I am sure if there is anything wrong with these, it's the XO filter network. Learn about loudspeaker design and build an improved XO. You will find information in this forum. Keep the original filter at hands for possible future sale. That's the best start at DIY design you can make, no money being wasted on drivers you probably don't need anyway. In case you are just trying to have fun by exploring other makes and models, please ignore my post.

I consider this options

From Madisound.com

NADA 2-Way Klang + Ton Kit Pair using Illuminator Drivers
(2) D3004/6640 1" Beryllium Dome Tweeters
(2) 18WU/4741T 7" Illuminator Woofers
(2) Professionally Assembled Crossovers (details below)

Morel Ziv II Kit
2x SCW-636 Carbon Fiber Woofers, 2x ST104-8 Supreme Tweeters- silver-gray faceplate (also available in black), and 2x Assembled Crossovers built with premium audiophile components on printed circuit boards.

Maybe you have a better idea for that money (until $2.500)

Hello
i you consider the Nada, please look into the revised version.
I have listend to both and to me (+others at the test) the revised version was noticably more linear, revealing and had a more detailed sound stage.

The beryllium tweeter was well integrated and does a great job, but the most surpring aspect was the midi tone of the scan speak mid-woofer. It was amazing!

The drivers are the same.

The diference is the Crossover?

Hey

The drivers are the same.

The diference is the Crossover?

Yes.

Regarding the crossover point of the tweeter: during the listening session nothing wrong / strained or "difficult was apparent. For further informationen and questions regarding the crossover please feel free to contact Quint Audio.
In my experience they are very friendly and helpfull.

The FR looks very good but the impedance chart concerns me. I'm worried they pushed the crossover point far too low,m but without seeing the individual driver curves I can't possibly tell.

I'm reading a lot about. is clear to me: the crossover must be very high quality in all aspects.

This 2 make a great team (D3004/6640 + 18WU/4741T)

Dou you thin I can add a woofer to this combination for extra low response?

Damilan,

The Illuminator/Revelators have amazing bass output.

I use mine with a subwoofer for movies, and they are phenomenal (custom speaker, AMT tweeter). I never need it for music, but I don't rock very much.

If you can make your own crossovers, do whatever you'd like. However, if you are looking for a kit because you don't know how yet, leave that idea alone. 🙂

Best,

Erik

Dam,

I suggest you learn how to design a simple two way or buy a kit, or buy from a reputable custom maker like Selah, Taylor Speakers or Fritz.

This idea you have that it's all very simple and without serious study you can throw parts together is going to drive those who try to help you mad. 🙂

Best,

Erik
