Hello!
I added such an update to the udisk-glue.conf to do an automatic update when an USB device is connected and removed.
Many thanks for your help. I just added '/usr/bin/mpc update <path>' to crontab, to run every night. Since I have a NAS, mounted via NFS, this is the easiest way to go 🙂
Hi Ed,
Look at MPD log to see what might be going on with the files.
cat /var/log/mpd/mpd.log
-Tim
I invoked the Update MPD and looked at the logs again and found that there isn't any new logs added.
The files are definitely in the file system as I looked into /mnt/SDCARD folder.
Is there any way of clearing and rebuilding the library database?
Ed

If I recall correctly, cron isn't running automatically in Moode.
You'll need to enable it and start it.
sudo systemctl enable cron
sudo systemctl start cron
Cheers,
Phil

Hi,
Im having trouble with moode 3.7 , I am a moode newbie.
Pi3 with a iquadio dac+.
When I try to configure moode and click on the audio icon nothing happens. at the base of the page it says waiting for moode and stays like this for several minutes. Clicking the other icons has the same result.
I've rebooted several times, turned the power on and off etc - nothing seems to make any difference. I have successfully run RuneAudio and Volumio so I don't think its me.
Keen to get this running.

Just as guess, have you tried clearing the browser cache?
Yep.
I've tried firefox and chrome and it's the same behaviour on both.
I've managed to get through once and change the output to i2s but after rebooting it's back to being unresponsive.

I've installed a ton of Moode systems and when this has happened to me, it invariably been either a dodgy SD card or bad burn.
Did you follow the config instructions?
Ok Tim, I have a slight problem.
I have a NTFS format USB external 1TB drive and it will not find all my files. I have updated MDB a few times and sometimes it will find the folder structure, but then no audio files will be listed. My files are mostly FLAC and MP3. The size of my library is only about 325 GB. The 1TB drive is only one NTFS partition. It is a deskto p3.5" USB drive and has its own power supply.
I do know that this particular Hitachi drive has a "sleep" mode and will stay connected n USB, but turns off the spinning of the drive. Could it be that the USB to SATA (or IDE) chipset is not communicating with MoOde correctly? Or could it be that the drive is not formatted quite right? I do know it has been reformatted a few times.
I never had an issue with my 325 GB WD USB 3.0 Drive, and that is a portable drive powered off the USB. It is also one primary NTFS partition. Mostly the same files too.
Raspberry Pi 3 using MoOde 3.7
Thanks,
Ryan

Nevermind.
I just searched this thread and saw that ther are some issues with large format NTFS drives.
I reformatted my 1TB drive to FAT32 and it works so must better/faster. I used to get audio glitches when a new track started and also missing about 100ms of the start of the track with my smaller NTFS drive. None of those issues with this FAT32 drive. I have no audio files over 4GB and it's really a secondary drive as my main files are on another drive and this is just storage forthis player, so I don't need the benefits of NTFS especially if if FAT32 works better.
For those in the know, is there any benefit to an EXT4 format for an external drive over FAT32 for the Pi?

EXT4 is the native file system and has journaling to help prevent data corruption. FAT32 is less complex so might be faster. For those in the know, is there any benefit to an EXT4 format for an external drive over FAT32 for the Pi?
Monstrum
A little while ago I posted some questions about the control mechanism of the PCM5242 Dac chip as I was designing my first DIY dac / Moode player.
The first revision is now up and running (complete with plenty of mistakes) and named MONSTRUM Dac and as can be seen from the picture this can carry a kali reclocker.
Sound is beyond awesome ;-) ..DIY is the way to go, the high end audio company's are fleecing us for every penny lol.
A Big thank you to Tim for creating such a cool audio player to motivate me to do this...

I've reflashed the card and everything seems to be working now.
Thanks
search not working
Hi I have a problem someone hopefully can help me. I recently put together a PI 3, Hifiberry XLR + pro, 1tb HDD all powered by a USB hub with 2.5A quick charge port for the PI.
I have mostly used Volumio until now and a brief test of Rune today but it doesn't support wifi hotspot out of the box. Both of these work fairly well with my mass of songs and i can search the library with little effort, results are always displayed.
I have bought Moode 3.7 to try out as well but I have a bug in Moode where i can search the 'Browse' tab logical USB drive and get individual songs:
But when i try to search albums or artists in the 'Library' tab i rarely get any results, sometimes i do but not very often. I have tried a new image with only scanning the HDD and changing nothing else but the problem persists:
Has anyone come across this problem as it is the only thing stopping me from moving to Moode permanently.
Thanks for reading.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Hi @neep8,
The Library search function uses a text type-down method for items in the Albums column.
How many Tracks and Albums in your collection?

Hi Phil,
Nice 🙂
I rebuilt moodeOS using that release last night and updated the kernel to 4.9.33 which contains updated I2S audio overlays.
Still a ways to go on moOde 3.8 but getting closer. Waiting for the Allo Piano Dual-Mono overlay, etc.
-Tim
Raspbian was updated again yesterday with another kernel update 🙂
Phil
[feature request] Could NAS mounts remain visible even when empty please. I move music around and its annoying having to go into sources to have to force an update.
Thanks
You can update from the browse menu - select browse, select hamburger next to source (USB, NAS, etc.), right-click>update.

Bought today Rpi3 with hifiberry digi+pro. Had rune audio installed first, but no sound. After that I tried with moode and works like a charm! Thx Tim!
Is it possible to copy audio files to the sdcard? Im using an usb stick atm and would like to play music directly from the sdcard. The sdcard currently holds the moode image.
Hello,
I have a problem with playing DSD files. I can play DSD64, DSD128, but it is decoded to PCM. I cannot play DSD256 – no sound.
My setup is Soekris DAM + Amanero + Rpi3.
I tried standard/advanced kernel, USB (UAC2) fix, DoP (Yes, No), etc.
I post some print screens.
Would you give me any advice?
