Hi.
Just discovered this thread and would like to provide the following plans.
They come from (3) books that were published in Germany in the early 80s. The photos are sequential according to the pages.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful forty-year-old drawings and photos.

I don't dare to try picking up my Fidelio 2A like I did a mere dozen years ago....

I think what he meant by old school was that the development of drivers is still far behind the times. Let me know if I'm wrong.
Tradition is important to them. They want to preserve the old. Many still like the sound.

Lowther, old school .. mmh.
I think they are highly efficient loudspeakers today as they were then. The only difference is that due to the technical possibilities, the selection is much larger today. The 'problem' is that you have to make a decision in this abundance of offers, and you like to suppress the fact that everything is just friendship with a compromise.
In addition, www and pc/mac make theoretical knowledge and marketing accessible to everyone, with the result that a general sense of insecurity can arise. Also, the knowledge about the dependence on the listening room, one's own condition and needs is sometimes given too little attention.. that was a bit of philosophy.
The important thing is that we enjoy it.
I personally like the experiment (diy).
