2.2mH inductor in Aleph3 Power supply

Hi
I am trying to find an inductor (cheap) to use for an Aleph 3 amp power supply (Kristijan's) design. I came across this on partsexpress.com and was wondering if I could use this. I looked at some previous threads on which inductors to use and it looks like a Metal core inductor is what Nelson suggested.

ERSE SUPER Q 2.0mH 16 GA 500W INDUCTOR Part number 266-904.

I remember someone saying the diameter of the wire for an Aleph 3 Power supply should be at least 1.4 mm which translates to 14 AWG wire. I am wondering if I should take the wattage of the inductor into account (500W is more than enough for a single channel Aleph3) or is the thickness of the wire important?

Does anyone have any suggestions to particular part numbers that I can use and where I might get them?

thanks

vsr,

I don´t know if it´s good to use an iron core choke because of saturation. (Then it´s only a resistor).

What you could use and what is also cheap is a 1.8mH air core choke with aprox. 0,4 ohms. I use them for my Aleph 5 and they work fine.

From what I remember, The Man (Nelson) recommends 14ga cored Erses, says they handle over 6 amps. On a balanced supply you need 2 per channel. They have the advantage of having less resistance than an air core inductor, and don't pollute their surroundings with as much of a magnetic field so in some ways are better

Can I use

Thanks to all for replying. I looked at Zalytron and found the following metal core. I looked at the old Nelson Pass post and he recommended an Iron core and I was wondering of I can use the following?

14 Gauge Super Silicon Grain Orientated Steel Core Q Coil

If I recall correctly, this core has a bit of an air gap which makes it less suseptable to DC saturation then typical iron cores, as well as the other benefits Mark has indicated. Although, I have 2.2mH 12ga Solen air cores on the way for my Aleph 5. I'm just hard headed I guess.:headbash:
