I am looking forward to the event. It seems that every time I venture to the coast the weather is great. Lets hope that my luck holds.

:)

Bring your Loonies & Dubloons (aka Toonies)

Bob Reimer of Creative Sounds has started the ball rolling by generously donating not 1, but 2 pait of FR125SR for a raffle. We've also scared up some t-Shirts, a pair of 1354 with phase plugs, and Jesse is bringing a pair of outdoor speakers infused with good karma.

Unless something changes, I will be on the first ferry out Sat morn. I am hoping to be very horny but that depends on GPA. If not, I will be partially horny. Dave do you have any overgrown bass units just in case? :)

EDIT: Some of you will now what I mean by horny, others...well, just run with it...

I have a 15" eminence coax in a little box -- close as we'll get.

Keep an eye out for leadbelly (Tony Pillo) -- he will likely be on the same ferry... if you don't have passengers you might be able to streamline things by giving him a lift (Barry is currently scheduled to pick him up at this end)

I have a feeling the back of the truck might be rather full and the only other seat is the passenger that may be relegated to cargo duty if I wish to keep things dry. This is why I have not made any offer thus far.

If Tony can locate my truck, black 1997 Mazda 2-seater pick-up with a small rusty roof (box) rack and some mysterious looking metal in the back, then we might just swing something. Can you provide contact numbers so that if we hook up, we can cancel other rides?

Tony, if you read this, send me an email and I will give you my cel #

Where are you spending Friday night? How are you getting to the ferry?

EDIT: That's the 7AM from Tsawwassen on Sat morn.

So how hard would a bike ride be from the ferry terminal? Looks to be pretty gradual climb?

Peddle bike?

There is a fairly flat trail, from Sidney to Victoria and then you take the Galloping Goose, then take a right onto Hiway 1, up Thetis lake hill... long but not overly steep, right on Millstream. Flat to Weatern Speedway, then an long cuvfy uphill (up/dpwn/up/up/down/...), left on Finlayson Arm, across the bridge and then that's where i always got off and walked the bike the last 1.5 km.

Or you could hang a right early and go over the mountains (hills)

After you zoom in a bit, the 2005 Colour Ortho layer )clik the layers tab to see the layers)

20m countours with 2 possible routes (max flatness -- red) attached

And fell free to ring us when you get to Millstream (or later) and we'll send a truck down to assist on the last bit.

Any last requests...

Only two days until the diyFEST!

Are there any remaining needs? Media, Source, Pre, Amps, etc??? I'll be coming over on the 11 am ferry with Dick Morgan. I think that there is one seat available for a lift from the ferry landing to the event.

I am looking forward to seeing my old friends, and meeting the new ones... See you there!

Bring what you want to share... i'm sure there will be lots of everything, but diversity is key...

Dave, should we be bringing vinyl?

Sure... there will be my Frugal-phile(tm) Rega II, and Jesse's Unity. I expect Chris to bring his souped Rega 3, and Jeff his LP12.

We'll have Chris's Jolida CD player, and lots of cheap ones, as well as Brent's USB DAC. Another top-flite CD spinner would probably be nice.

bringing stuff...

Dave ,
I'll be there for sure (I'm in Vancouver right now).

I only brought the little T-amp and a mock up of what I hope to be the finished product, and a power supply. Anyone have an iPod to use (I may have a little" treat" to listen to if so). I've got the Hemp FR8Cs or with me, and an old (almost NOS out of a church that haven't been used or were stored and never used) of Altec 409-D fullrangers. Dave, I also brought a single woofer with me, would you be willing to take a quick measurement for me? Brought a couple of cds as vinyl in the car for 1100 kms in the heat, would make for some REALLY bad listening ;)

Haven't decided to take a car across or walk on. any ideas?
Will the missus be up for some company? (My wife's coming too, so maybe shopping/socialising, etc?). Not sure if staying overnight on the island.

Cal , I'm actually in Surrey, if around would it be possible to meet tonight or tomorrow? Any cool haunts for used audio gear and electronic componenets?

Looking forward to Saturday.

Who's going over on the ferry?

It occurs to me that many of us going to be on the ferry on Saturday morning for an-hour-and-a-half...

If we planned on a meeting somewhere on the ferry, we could get started on the 'Fest' early. :)

Dick and I are going to be on the 11 am Saturday morning.

I think others will be going over on earlier Ferries.

Looking forward to it!
Edward
