Hi All,
I have a hankering to build some 2-way Acoustic Suspension (although I use the term loosely) speakers, with 8" woofers.
I've narrowed my woofer shortlist to two:
SB Acoustics SB23CACS45-8, and the Human Pro005.
Both of these will get me down to 39 - 44Hz with an enclosure of 41 - 43.5 litres.
The question is a little open-ended for my liking, but am I missing any tricks here?... Before I bite the bullet, does anyone have any better suggestions for woofers? 😀

Hi GM,
Many thanks for your reply.
In terms of performance goals, I've tailored my expectations according to the available drivers in conjunction with the calculated ideal enclosure volumes, although having arrived at four candidate woofers that provide response down to 40-45Hz out of 40ish litre enclosures, I'm notionally limiting the volume to this figure - I live in a shoebox and I can't justify going any bigger! ;-)
I'm fairly happy with the on-paper results I've got with the SB23s (F3 of 44.2Hz out of a 40.96 litre enclosure). I've come across one or two drivers that can go significantly lower, but only with enclosures of 60+ litres.

SB is a no-brainer manufacturer.
What's wrong with the plain black (non-ceramic) version SB23NBACS45-8? Do you really want those huge white "eyes" staring at you?
What tweeter are you thinking of using?

i think one needs a rather small or weak motor and a low driver free air resonance to get any decent low freq output, with a room to match i think this will give the best bass performance ever, non active eq that is
sb23 drivers does not seem to have a pretty midrange, so i would look for a seperate midrange driver to the setup

Hi Andersonix, and many thanks for your reply.
The SB23NBACS45 is a very different speaker from the SB23CACS45-8, with a much higher EBP of 71.4. My calcs tell me that it would only extend down to 53.5Hz.
I'm undecided about tweeters at the moment, but my initial shortlist includes:
Morel CAT-298 (89dB - 80W)
Monacor DT-105 (90dB - 30W Apparently easy on the ear)
Monacor DT-107 (89dB - 80W)
Audax TW025A1 (90dB - 70W)
Between the SB23NBACS45-8 (aluminum) and SB23CACS45-8 (ceramic), it's mainly the Qes that's changing, the former is 0.43 and the latter is 0.40. Fs is the same 25Hz for both. EBP=Fs/Qes is only a rough guide, so don't throw the baby out with the bath water....(I don't get your numbers anyway...??)
I had thought they're the same motor, but I also see the Le is quite different. I would choose the lower Le and go with the black one...

"I don't get your numbers anyway"
What can I say?... I'm only using the T/S parameters from t'interweb.

I'm using these numbers
SB23NBACS45-8 8" Black Aluminum Cone
SB Acoustics SB23CACS45-8 8" ceramic woofer- 8 ohms
SB23NBACS45-8 8" Black Aluminum Cone
SB Acoustics SB23CACS45-8 8" ceramic woofer- 8 ohms
For some reason, the T/S Parameters at that link are wrong... try these instead:

For either of those SB woofers, there's cone breakup residuals at 2.0kHz, so xo should be steep before 2k.
Why not use the SB Acoustics SB29RDAC-C000-4 Ring Dome Tweeter?
