ADAU1701 programmer

I bought the USBi cable from 3e Audio a couple of weeks ago. Downloaded the SigmaStudio software, the driver is recognised and all seems working, until I try to save my EQ changes. When I click 'Link Compile Download' I get an error message saying that the hardware isn't connected and thus am unable to save the project to the EPROM. Has anyone got the DSP working on the 3e amp? All the connections are in green, no errors found when I Link project.
Any help please.

Here's the steps I follow with the 3e DSP board:

1 Boot PC and load SigmaStudio
2 Plug in USB cable from PC to Programmer
3 Check for 'green' status in SigmaStudio hardware configuration tab
4 Power on the DSP board
5 Connect Programmer cable to the DSP
6 Check SigmaStudio is still 'green' in hardware configuration tab

I don't have the 3e Programmer, but this sequence seems to work for other programmers. Also: After step 2 you should be able to find the programmer in Device Manager under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". Mine is listed as "Analog Devices USBi (programmed)".

The USBi is not recognised, nor is the status green if just connect the USBi cable without switching the amp on first. If I have the amp powered up when I plug it in then the USB, ADAU1701 and Eprom are all green. The problem arises when I try to save the changes (see above). Thanks anyway.

OK. On AliExpress the picture of the 3e programmer has these words:

"Please note this is a low cost USBi tool, not a Plug and Play as Analog Device EVAL-ADUSB2EBZ. User need Force Deactivation of Driver Signature to install special driver to make it work correctly."

That means you have to load the FreeUSBi drivers to make this device work. Have you loaded the drivers?

You should see it in the list of hardware under USB units, otherwise it's marked as a hardware that's not installed correctly.
Depending on what Windows version you got you have to install it differently, it's all explained in the manual though.

I'm using the Sure Wondom ICP3 with own DSP board, and it works really well ... but today I would not bother for the bluetooth option and would just go for the ISP1.

As mentioned by ernperkins, the sequence for hooking up is important. Basacially, have power on the dsp board before you connect the programmer, and make sure the programmer is reccognized and connected in SigmaStudio, before connecting programmer with DSP.

That the Sure programmer is only using a 6 pin connector with small pitch I find an advantage as it consumes less space on the DSP board ... but if you have a board with USBi it's of course a different matter 🙂
