Alternative oamp for ne5532

Hi Partner11,
As @chermann (chris) mentioned, please have a look at the thread, most of the thread, deals with FX502S Pro.

TPA3250 somebody is listening?

It's already confirmed that ne5532, supplied with amp are fake.
People have already replaced & tested with

1. Geniune NE5532p or NE5532AP
2. LM4562
3. LME49720
4. OPA2134
and a few others..
All are direct replacements, nothing else need to be modified.
Other upgrades are purely optional. Upgrading Outpot coils/caps, and other caps (most are fake, not the elna as the sticker on caps says), adding heatsink & extra holes for heat release etc.

take your time and read thru the thread thoroughly, as many of owners of that specific amp, shared their ideas and results about the upgrades.

Good luck!
so actually you say it is safe to replace with one of your AMP list with no change at all in the circuit?
Could you recommend what is the preferred one from your point of view?

Yes, here are my recommendations:

1) Replace your current fake* NE5532 Op Amps with real Op Amps like the OPA1656.

2) Buy a real Meanwell 24v PSU, then adjust the voltage all the way down to roughly ~21.6v. Consider running a quality ~2200 uF 35v smoothing capacitor at the positive & negative output.

3) If you can solder, let me know. There are a few more things that can be done to increase your listening pleasure...

* Yes, they're fake.
I've attached a pic of my amplifier, must say the 5532 seems like the original...

At first I was like you, hoping that they were real...

If you pull out your china NE5532's and compare them to real Mouser or Digi-Key bought NE5532's or any other real Texas Instruments Op Amps you'll see that the Ti Logo is different under high magnification when compared to the china Op Amps.

Yes, No changes needed. I already replaced them with Geniune NE5532APs ordered from RS components.
Then again changed to LM4562.

@chermann bro already played with LM4562, LME49720 & OPA2134 (BB), and listened for hours.

Best OPAMPs:

OPA2209
OPA2228
OPA1692
OPA2192
OPA2189

If you want more bass/body & warmth: OPA2227

They are all MUCH better than LME49720, LM4562, OPA2134, OPA2604...

NE5532? You cant be serious... An OPAMP from medieval times...

Burson is not an OPAMP! Its discrete amp that is somewhat (85%) compatible
with some opamps. Never heard the 1656 - isnt it a low current design made for portables?
On Head-Fi forum they say OPA2209 is better than 1612 & Burson.

I'm so glad not to use tubes anymore. Went away from tube power amps over 10 years ago. Went away from tube preamps some months ago. Thanks to (thank ya - texan slang) Texas Instruments.
Decades ago when I was young - college times - we all used TI calculators. When somebody would have told me that I will listen to TI amps in the future I would have laughed him off....

OPA2209 sounds sooooo much better than 6N6P.

BTW, after TPA3255 & OPA2209 I'm supporting the independence of Texas 😉 YEE-HAW!

I have OPA1692, still in the listening test phase. First impression is very good but mids are not that neutral or warm in comparison to OPA2209. But as I said still testing and they are not burnt in like the OPA2209. Sometimes I change from OPA2209 to OPA1612 to hear extreme detail... OPA1612 let you hear the flies in the recording studio... With OPA1612 you will hear details you never heard before. Incredible! (read this word in French please cos it sounds more effective and emotional).

BTW, sorry that Lyon lost - Bayern is such a disgusting club.

I own many OP Amps. I also have the 1612. My best combo is :

2X OPA1612 + 2X OPA1656 in my double DAC AK4497
2 X OPA1656 in my Aiyima TPA3251.

I agree with you, OPA1612 is really good regarding details resolution, OPA1656 has the best of both world : ultra high definition regarding micro details and very neutral but still warm. (If I am not wrong OPA1656 is a really modern OP Amps from March 2019 vs 2017 for the OPA1692).

I will order 2 OPA1656 for testing but not before I ended my tests with OPA2189, OPA2192, OPA1692, OPA1612 & OPA2209.

Regarding OPA2209 I'm not so sure anymore, last night I changed from 1612 to 2209 and could hear more body and very good flow/rhythm but it lacked the transparency of the 1612. I think I should build 2 PCBs for my preamp.

The romantic version: OPA2209 (gain) & OPA2227 (buffer), ELNA Silmic II or Nichicon VZ caps, carbon resistors and Kimber cable.

The ultra open version: OPA1612 & OPA2228, Nichicon KZ caps and Dale or Takman metal film resistors and pure silver wiring.

I want to use Molex gold contact sockets & headers to change real fast from PCB to PCB.

I did not say that it is bad. But if the NE5532 is GREAT than the newer TI OpAmps like OPA1612, OPA2228, OPA1692, OPA2209 etc are:

OUTSTANDING, MARVELOUS, EXTRAORDINARY, UNMATCHED, OUT OF THIS WOLRD, EXTREME Über OpAmps!
