anyone have any views on these like the small outside diameter and the idea of built in protective grill . come with built in 6db crossover too I'm guessing for overload protection https://powerbassuk.com/us/en/products/mobile-audio/2XL-3M 3-Soft-dome -Midrange/
Can you post fr response? On axis and off axis. If available, waterfall plot. Otherwise, no idea.
I know they're car drivers but I meant for home .
Well this is what I wondered . if they're was enough info to make an informed decision or not . it's quite a lot of money to risk if they're not very good . I'll message the company see if i can get those graphs .seems like even less specs of drivers are given out in the car world seems like people buy on name and reputation .

IT is kinda' hard to say as the "specifications" listed are kinda vague. The likes of a graphing of sound pressure vs. frequency would be very helpful to evaluate its performance. The dome midrange has "come back" in vogue...its advantages being supplanted with ribbon tweeters and the odd collection of wideband tweeters as of late. The big dome midrange is making a comeback in popularity.
We really need more data to nail down this "built in crossover"...why it was incorporated....we can guess that it was incorporated to save it from primitive implementation with no low-end protection (filter), the driver popping out from low frequencies passing thru. I'll look it up to see if we can find more data.

FYI/FWIW/YMMV.... I used Infinity mobile audio drivers for small upscale HIFI/HT and based on what little info I found these appear to be at least as good and with neo motors are in theory a bit better; for sure I'd at least audition them and price wise quite a bit cheaper after factoring in 20+ years of inflation!
thankyou Rick.
and yeah it's a bit frustrating the lack of fr resp etc ,lately I've been looking at dynaudio car drivers and the one place that sells them provides almost no data to go on .
unless I'm being blind and have missed it somehow ? .
dynaudio told me they dont provide ts parameters.
Reading between the lines the mw182 seems to be the same or very similar to the 24W-100 xl, which I think is quite a good driver works in a smallish box sealed or ported etc

Official website provides pdf brochure on automotive drive units with spl and impedance graphs.
Should there not be T/S parameters, as is the case for 3" midrange dome, for the sake of it,
it can be calculated using formulae on traced impedance data.
My opinion is Dynaudio mid MD142 is heavily overpriced. Instead, get a 2" Visaton variant.
This drive unit is absolutely over the top in resolving recorded sounds.
yep agree about the md142 i think id rather spend my money on that tangband 3"middome but I'll have a look at the visaton one too thanks for the heads up on that they seem to have quite a few interesting reasonably priced drivers .and thanks you're right I had already downloaded that pdf and had forgotten about it !!
If you want cheap, used- hit the Auto Wreckers (Pick A Part, Pick N Pull, self serve) some will remove the parts for you (?$).
You'd be taking a chance with used drivers though, some with odd mounting, some abused, etc..
Bring a small 1.5 volt battery , wire, to test & multimeter. Bring tools, a drill & drill bit - some are pop rivetted.
Some examples:

I can't view those unfortunately I only have the stuff related to the dynaudio bm15a but I'd be keen to view any other stuff people have about dynaudio drivers too
