I was wondering if any of you have used the dual power supply available from JameCo here. A +/- 5-15v Dc adjustable supply kit supporting up to 750mA per channel. It's a whopping $35US, and should be beefy enough for a few varied projects.
I'm ordering PCBs for the Muffsy Clone from the SlowDiyer and was thinking this could make a decent linear power supply for the phono stage.
Any Thoughts?

I'm guessing the 750mA output current is only available at the maximum output voltage. The reg heatsinks don't look man enough to dissipate more than 3 Watts or so.
I thought the same about the heatsinks, and realistically, i think finding suitable replacements shouldn't be that hard, This is, of Course DIYaudio aint it? 🙂The reg heatsinks don't look man enough to dissipate more than 3 Watts or so.
Use Pana FC or the like for the 2200 µF and also Pana FC for the 1 µF. The red LED would indicate an error here but that is a question of taste 🙂
It will be decent but no more than that, one can not expect anything else really when choosing based on low cost. For a phono preamplifier one could choose an ultra low noise PSU like this one:

The text in the Muffsy link seems to indicate the same.

Jean-Paul, I had seen the LDOVR psu, but I wasn't able to locate any documentation, looks to me like the unit uses dual SMPS inputs, and playing the SMPS lottery to find a decently quiet unit. I'm more familiar with linear psu's, as far as troubleshooting. TBH, I was hoping to find gerber files for Jan's Silent Switcher, since it's no longer in production, but I'm pretty sure that idea has gone out the window, lol.
I went looking for a Silent Switcher a few years back and learned they were no more. I had used one in an earlier project and really liked the form-factor and what it was capable of doing. It would be nice if the gerbers were available.
The LDOVR has rectifier diodes and AC inputs so it is a fully linear PSU meant for a transformer. The Silentswitcher is eh... a switcher so an SMPS (with linear regulators to get it silent). There is a 74HC04 in your logic 😀
I think you get some documentation when you order the kit, at least I got that with the single PSU AFAIK. Given the extreme simplicity it could go without any. The TPS7A modules are ready made and the rectifier diodes and SMD parts are already soldered to the PCB if I remember correctly. It is the connectors, large filter cap and some resistors and caps that need to be soldered.
