Celef, what is the extension in the 120 liter cab, and how do you like the system, other than size? Glenn.
(120 liter ls larger than "K18" - is that with Beta12cx? )
no fill in the pipe below - just 1" bonded Dacron lining. The hole at the bottom of the pipe was the full cross-section of the pipe.

I plugged 45 litres into the sim. A good volume for a highR vent system, F10 indeed near 40.
A bit lower tuning (if using a standard cylindrical vent, F10 drops to just below 40.
Anechoic.

At that volume leave it sealed. Way too big for reflex (with a decent alignment).
Q drops below 0.5, the largest sealed i would use would be about 75 litres.

Dave, what would a 75 liter sealed do with the low end usable extension, and what size and port tune would you use if you were to go BR. I'm curious, as to how the BR would work without subs for 2 channel listening. I have multiple subs that I could switch out, but I've tossed around a smaller bedroom system so that I could swap my 3 way horns to my large room. I have Turbosound coax dsp monitors with 1300 watt amps that I use for live vocals, and I love them. Thanks! Glenn. At that volume leave it sealed. Way too big for reflex (with a decent alignment).

i like them, i hated them at first and i swapped the apt50 for celestion cdx1446, but they did not fit so good so i went back to using apt50, with a new crossover they started to sound nicely. but the big box has been problematic, i could hear a boxiness that i did not like, so i used a lot of mineral wool for internal acoustic damping and many sheets of bitumen on the exterior. i think big boxes like these needs a better construction then mine to really be inert.
this is how they simulate in vituixcad for sealed and vented, see pic

maybe we use different t/s-parameters? i get a closed box q around 0.63 for 120 liter, any smaller vented box makes the frequency response poorer - sharp knee before roll off
I typically use factory T/S.
They have proven most useful since the factories all tend to use the same software and collapse the T/S curves at the same pplace.
My sim using factory data is 0.467

Sealed you reach the mid40s F10, Q about 0.5 (box is stuffed).
It is larger than i would use for a reflex box. Larger than i would do a sealed box.
45 litres looks good.

I have my 10cx in a 37l box and it works quite good in that. But yes a few more liters wouldn’t hurt. I have the 12cx in a 48l and it’s definitely to small. I think 60-70l would be great for it. All with bass reflex, I tried closed first but I don’t think stiff PA drivers are meant for that.
Yes that is th eone i am talking about.
Haven’t looked at the 12”.

Ok, now i understand the confusion, in post #41 drummer2005 asked about my 12cx in 120 liter boxes and my answers where for the 12cx
Yes, the 12cx was the driver that I was wondering about. The 10 would work great with a sub. I keep waiting for the Vortex parts to get to dsg, but in the meantime, I keep thinking of different options to possibly try out. I love the horn/ waveguide setups that I have, buy I can't decide on what I want to try next. I have only used coax setups for live sound and studio, and loved them in both cases, and they had the dynamics and sound that made my ears happy. I won't be dropping the cash on 604 units though. The Urei time aligned monitors were one of my favorites that I've ever enjoyed on playback. Glenn
