Note that Jennyr wrote the above at 3.19pm UK time.ps. will be here, at PC for a about 1 hour, next need to go 🙂
He will now be in the shop, hopefully buying a stylish pair of headphones for his wife's birthday.
I hope he will tell us how he got on!
The only headphones I have absolutely hated - and returned for a refund, were the Grados.
Don't go there. Some people love them, some hate them. Too risky if she hasn't tried them.

I fear your advice has come too late!Too risky if she hasn't tried them.

Thanks, don't have enough time for review websites, so maybe someone just post 1-5 variants to buy without long reading
Wall of Fame on that site is quick and a good place to start.
Thanks for help for all! Many thanks! 🙂
I finally bought flowers and a cool vaponizer kit she also wanted. Buying a quality headphones is not so easy as I thought, will read more your advices and read reviews for next time. Thanks again for all!

Could you buy her a gift certificate and let her choose?
Year, seems this variant is more correct. I even never thought about wireless options and so on.

Off the top of my head try the Audio-Technica ATH-WS1100iS. Great all round pair of headphones and are usually under $150 I believe.
I personally love the Sennheiser HD280Pro headphones for my digital piano. These would work great for pretty much anything you're looking to do with music. I also use them for recording vocals.
Thanks for reporting back - a happy wife means a happy life! 😎
No doubt 🙂
Thanks, will look at Audio-Technica ATH-WS1100iS and Sennheiser HD280Pro
Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee for $160 on Massdrop or HiFiMan HE4xx for $170, it does NOT get much better than that in sub $600 price range.
Not necessarily the highest fidelity choice, but last generation versions of the Sony wireless headphones can be had for cheap. I got the Sony h900Ns for about $100, and they sound quite good. The amps and processing in them optimize the sound, and the noise canceling is a god send, even if not the most effective out there.
Headphones for less than 100$
Just try AKG K72 or AKG K92(59$) (K72 are 30$ now on discount)
I bet you would be pleasantly surprised and can keep the rest of the money for something else! 🙂

Looking for top 2 choices
Can anyone suggest their top 2 choices for wired headphones with noise cancelling? Thanks...

I have Bose wired noise cancelling phones, they are super comfortable, sound quality is very good - I believe the use of noise cancelling goes hand in hand with DSP so you get a well tailored frequency response. Contrast that with some Grado 60's I had - like sticking toothpicks in your ears.
