Building/modifying SV-S1616D 300B amp

General question from a tube novice to the tube whisperers following this thread... When one references the "plate voltage" of the output tube (300B in this case), is that referenced to ground, or referenced to the cathode? On the SV-S1616D schematic, the 300B plate voltage is indicated at 482V, and the cathode voltage is indicated at 88V. So is the actual plate voltage 394V (Vp - Vk)? The 300B datasheet states 450V as maximum plate voltage, which makes me question 482V. Is maximum plate voltage actually referring to the maximum voltage drop across the tube? Thanks.

Hi Chris, I see myself as a novice as well. Most ee have forgotten what I still have to learn. But you are correct. The actual plate voltage is accross the tube. As you said Vp-Vk.
