Hi, Dj BASS AMP

I think you can't change the 2SC2073/A940 to TIP102/107
because the TIP's are Darlingtons.
Some substitutes could be those:

2SC2073: BD239D, 2SC1669, 2SD608(A), 2SD1138
2SA940 : 2SA839, 2SB608, 2SB628(A), 2SB861

But why would you change them, are they broken?

What do you mean by stronger? More current, more voltage?

Nothing will happen; it only means that the transistors are able to resist more voltage and more current. But as long as you don't give them more voltage or current, nothing will happen.

To make the amp more powerful, you probably have to redesign
a lot of things.

I think Hugo has pretty much answered your question already.

Why do you want to change the transistors? If you are hoping
to get more power out of the amplifier you most likely have
to replace most of the expensive components, like transformer,
filter capacitors, output transistors, heatsinks etc. This would
mean a complete redesign, so it would be better to start from
scratch and build a new amplifier.

Anyway, if you still want to change the transistors for some
reason, you will at least have to provide a schematic or tell
what amplifier it is. Now we don't even know if you are talking
about the OPS drivers or the VAS transistors or whatever. I
think nobody can give a good answer without more information.

And once again, first make clear to yourself why you want to
change the transistors.

Writing in bold is not going to change what Christer said. Different transistor types are, well, different in some respects. Without knowing where/how they are used, it is impossible to say whether these differences make a difference in your amp. You may be OK replacing them, but they may also make your amp smoke.

:att'n: That table says that TIP41/42 should NOT be used. We
don't know where the transistor is located in the topology, or
even what the topology is, so we must assume that Vce might
get close to 140V since the rails were +/- 70V.

Correct; Shoud be:
TIP41/2D= BD243D/BD244D: NF-L, 160V, 6A, 65W, >3MHz

I have a goal !!!!! i have amp and some transistors was a explode !!! and in the company that i buy the new parts..... dont have a 2SC2690A/A1220A and 2SC1815/A1015.
so i need a compatible parts.

now i need to know that the compatible of my parts...

2SC2690A/A1220A can i change to MJE340/350 or what ??
2SC1815/A1015 can i change to BC546 or what ?

the O/P transistors i change them already...
from 2SC5198/A1941 to 2SC5200/A1943.

If you check out a previous thread you will see that he asked
if he could increase the voltage to his amp to get more power.
Several people said "don't do it", and he just went about doing
it any way. I would guess this thread is a result of that.
