I have a very good album of Chet Baker. Called 'Embraceable You'.
He was a trumpeter.
But he also did some good singing.
Unfortunetly he was a drugist. He died too soon.
Do you know some other artist(s) that take drugs?

It would be easier to list artists that don't...
They did a huge amount in the 60s. Francis Rossi of status quo dissolved his nasal septum due to too much coke. Even little Richard used to say he had a nose like a bucket before he cleaned up.
What would be more interesting would be to compare musical styles with the drugs taken. Lemmy for example preferred speed...

There is little doubt that creative minds need the extra edge and stimulation drugs can provide. What amazes me is that so many of the wild old rockers get to live to an unexpectedly ripe age, instead of setting a good early grave example. Is nature so much stronger than nurture or are we being fed baloney about the harm of drugs and alcohol? 🙂
I think taking drugs to be creative is overrated.
They probably could do even better without drugs.

Surely you don't mean Keef? What amazes me is that so many of the wild old rockers get to live to an unexpectedly ripe age,
Take a look around you (in case you are not living in isolation) 🙂or are we being fed baloney about the harm of drugs and alcohol?

There are lots of them. Joe Pass comes to mind. He was a heroin addict, but it didn't kill him, liver cancer did. He did beat heroin though.
Within a few years, Pass developed an addiction to heroin. He moved to New Orleans for a year and played bebop at strip clubs. Pass revealed to Robert Palmer of Rolling Stone that he had suffered a "nervous breakdown" in New Orleans "because [he] had access to every kind of drug there and was up for days [...] [he] would come to New York a lot, then get strung out and leave."[4]
Pass spent much of the 1950s in and out of prison for drug-related convictions. In the same Rolling Stone interview, Pass said, "staying high was my first priority; playing was second; girls were third. But the first thing really took all my energy." He recovered after a two-and-a-half-year stay in the Synanon rehabilitation program. Pass largely put music on hiatus during his prison sentence.[5]

Charlie Haden. Bud Powell. Charlie Parker. Stan Getz. Gerry Mulligan. Billie Holiday to just name a few. The list is endless.
In my youth I fell to drugs, funny thing is that it was hashish that made me spiral down, into psychosis, speed pills and other stuff didn't afflict me.
Its decades ago..
I prefer a clean mind.

Or didn't, especially jazz artists in the 50's and 60's.It would be easier to list artists that don't...

- Chet Baker. An artist that took narcotics. Are there any other narcomaniacs in music?
