CXA1800.1

Cxa1800.1 volume level is chaotic.
When I have the volume turned down it is really loud when I turn the volume up the bass starts chopping it sounds like I got a wire loose but all wires have been checked and all of my splices are solderedand shrink wrapped I have went thru the manual front to back I've removed my lc1i and changed it from low input to high and still the same thing it was running fine but I changed from a cheap $5 line leveler from Walmart and it is the only thing that kinda works. I'm st a loss here talked to Todd at edburg amp repair and he sent me here specifically for papazbill but any help is welcome. Thanks

Yes it's plays fine till I start to turn it up then it starts to go up and down and sometimes it turns off the only thing I found that works is a $5 walmart line level and I got that turned to 50% and my gain to 40% and that seems to work ok but the hi level input on the amp and my lc2i both start going choppy as soon as I turn it up

Nope it works good on certain frequencies and I've changed it both ways if I keep the input gain on my lc1 way down my gain on amp 33% and here's the weird one my bass boost at 25% my freq at 50 it kinda works I've tried both line level and the one built into the amp with the switch on hi level input and the was the worst way I've checked input signal and it's good 2.2v at 50hrz so I'm kinda lost it sound like it's cutting in and out on certain freq and then some times it will just shut off then turn back on

So with just the head unit (no CXA) you have good sound.

With a cheap Walmart line level into CXA it kind of works, but choppy, correct?

With LC2i the problem is worse.

Head unit(model)hi or low lvl out--->LC2 settings?-->CXA18001 settings? --->Sub model(?)

Any chance you can swap out the CXA with another mono amp?

It sounds like the CXA is bad. Gain control or bad/cold solder joint. Swapping out amp would be conclusive.

If the amp is under warranty send to Kicker.

If the amp is out of warranty you can fix it yourself(not recommend if you have no experience with repairing audio electronics)

Or you can send it to Kicker. Repair charge would run typically $65 to $85. Kicker ships returned product at no charge.

I do have experience fixing amps some what new to full bridge and these digital amps
The amp is going to a resilient sounds platinum 18" d1 wired to 2 ohm in a 6cft box tuned to 29hrz it is definitely sounds like a gain control problem it's jumps up and down in level ill redo all solder points and let u know thx and yes its a oem head unit 2013 dodge durango crew stock 220alt d3100xs power lc2 is not it right now
