Also, I like the idea of buying a few 1uF caps to play around with the sound to hear the difference.

Tolerance in components is hardly distinguable, I guess. 10 or 20 % won't bring dramatic changes 🙄
My experience is to the contrary, an old 3 way design I had could hold imaging as well as anything I'd heard, but fell on it's face when component values were out a little (an audible shift in apparent stereo image)
Replacing the components in the crossover and measuring transfer functions to ensure identical resulted in a massive improvement in performance, using solens as caps.
If you think a 10% variation in filter network makes littke difference, can I assume the design is only to within 10% of optimal and therefore sloppy?
While I wait for my LC Meter to arrive from China...
